Ameera Conrad joins 20 Stories High as Associate Director

We are over the moon to announce that Ameera Conrad is our new Associate Director!

Ameera will be working alongside the team to deliver a diverse programme of work over the next few years, including the development of the Youth Theatre, a brand new professional development programme for 18-30 year olds as well as directing and developing and a brand new show.

“I couldn’t be more excited about the opportunity to work with 20 Stories High – a company that I’ve admired for a long time. Creating bold new works using an intersectional lens is at the core of what I do, and getting to do it with 20 Stories High feels like a match made in heaven! This team – just like the city itself – is full of passion, expression, and heart, and I can’t wait to get to be part of its incredible legacy.”

Ameera Conrad –  Associate Director

Ameera joins us with a wealth of experience and insight. Their other current work includes positions as an Associate Artist for the National Youth Theatre and as one of the visiting lecturers for Mountview’s MA Theatre for Community and Education.

“We are so incredibly excited to welcome Ameera Conrad into the team as our new Associate Director. They are just amazing and we jumped at the chance of collaborating and working together so deeply, especially as this new chapter of 20 Stories High is one of reimagining and adapting how we do what we do. What stood out for us was Ameera’s commitment to creating excellent, bold, and political work for, and with, young people and adults – characteristics that form the DNA of 20 Stories High. We simply cannot wait to be on this journey together over the next 26 months.”

Ameera is joining 20 Stories High at a crucial time. 16 years on, the need for young diverse  participants and audiences to create their own work and see themselves represented on stage feels more important than ever. Ameera brings a passionate political drive, a brilliant sense of play and an international perspective that feels so important for a city such as Liverpool! We are so lucky to have her on board!
