We are chuffed to announce that the amazing Liverpool Playwright Luke Barnes will be writing and developing our next Youth Theatre Show with associate director Nathan Powell. We are a big fan of Luke’s at 20 Stories High ever since we saw his play Bottleneck at Edinburgh Festival back in 2014.
Luke says about working with the company “I have been wanting to work with 20 Stories High for a decade since seeing Blackberry Trout Face at the Everyman. Young people in this city are vibrant, well informed, creative, talented, funny and diverse and hearing what they have to say is more important than nearly any playwright. I can’t wait to make a show with them that gives platform to the change they want to see in the world, allows them to be the most themselves they can be on stage and is of the quality of any other piece of theatre in the world.”
Nathan Powell commented “We’re absolutely buzzing to be working with Luke on our next Youth Theatre show. Luke brings so much experience and quality from his previous work and we’re excited to see how he can help us shape the amazing stories this group of young people have to share.”
Youth Theatre member Rosie, after the first session said… “I’m really looking forward to developing an amazing and socially relevant new piece of theatre with talented and creative people who have a passion for music, drama and the arts.”
The new show yet to be titled will be performed at the Unity Theatre July 2020!
