A Mindful Residential Retreat

Over the October half-term 20 Stories High Youth Theatre and Young Actors company were treated to a weekend away from the stresses of everyday life.

Organised by Future Collective – our Young Leaders Programme – the mini-break took place at High Ash Farm just outside of Buxton in the High Peak.

Activities focused on improving mental health and wellbeing and included: a professional yoga and mindfulness class; healthy and nutritious food; walking and orienteering in the great outdoors; and, of course, some time to party and socialise too.

We have been talking a lot about mental health and mental resilience recently, and understanding how important taking some time out is.

Youth Theatre member Shaundel said:

“I enjoyed the residential, as it gave me a chance to relax. My favourite activity of all was the yoga, being in that calm and relaxing state and spending time getting to know the new members.”

Being able to take some quality time out together to explore ways we can help keep our minds and bodies healthy, left us all feeling refreshed and re-energised for the festive season ahead!
