Windsor Street Party

We had such a boss time hosting the first ‘Windsor Street Party’ in May as part of Liverpool’s LightNight.

LightNight is Liverpool’s free one-night arts festival, shining a spotlight on the city and celebrating our world class cultural offer with over 100 organisations collaborating annually to create an inspiring trail of events with talks, workshops, performance, live music and more.

An estimated 900 local community members came along and got involved in Bollywood dance, circus skills, capoeira, pizza-making, fermenting and pickling vegetables, embroidery and visual art workshops.

Accompanying the workshops was a diverse and exciting programme of  live music and spoken word, buskers and beatboxers from the area, plus a karaoke sing-a-long and a 900+ person strong Brazilian dance procession led by 70 drummers from Katumba, a carnival drumming school from Liverpool.

Thanks to all the local organisations who got involved including: Family Hive, Kitchen Sink Live, Ukelele Club, Writing on the Wall, Happy Go Cooking, Cinema Nation, George Garrett Archive, Spirit of Liverpool, Movema, Grapes Community Garden and Squash, Karen Scott, Bring the Fire Project, Capoeira For All, Trisha Porter, DJ Levi, John Archer Hall, Toxteth TV and Firefit.

And thanks to everyone who came and made it such a special community event!
