Housing Crisis In The Spotlight On BBC Radio 4

Artistic Director of Culture Liverpool, Claire McColgan was on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme on Friday promoting our new show, She’s Leaving Home, part of the Sergeant Pepper at 50 celebrations taking place this summer.

Over the past few weeks Phelim McDermott (Improbable) has been working with 20 Stories High Co-Artistic Directors Julia and Keith and the She’s Leaving Home creative team exploring the notions of home, homelessness and the moment when you leave home with young people from Liverpool.

Radio 4 presenter Misual Hussain later highlighted the housing crisis facing Britain today revealing that every year there are an estimated 250,000 new households created in England and far fewer new homes built to house them.

We hope that some of the issues raised in She’s Leaving Home will open up more discussions about young people and housing and continue to highlight some of the challenges many face, both here in Liverpool and nationally too.
