No Sleep ’til Xmas

So what a year that was! And to finish off we had a record breaking 3 events in one week. A Young Writers Project sharing, A Youth Theatre and Young Actors Company sharing and our Winter Meltdown music gig hosted by our new music group the 20 Stories High Sound System.

First of all, the Young Writers had their scripts performed at a rehearsed reading, performed by a mix of 20 Stories High actors old and new –  Grace Willis (WHOLE 2013), Darren Kuppan (Melody Loses her Mojo 2014), Donna Coleman (our pastoral support worker and amazing actor!) and ex youth theatre member Adam Leyland. The writing was moving, funny and went to some really challenging places. A short film is being made to archive the event so watch this space! We would like to thank the National Theatre for awarding us with the Jenny Harris Award which enabled us to run the programme.

Following on, we had our Youth Theatre & Young Actor’s Company perform Gender: Remixed. Collaborating with artist Nathan Crossan-Smith the group presented a raw, honest account of challenges and hot spots around gender stereotypes.

And finally we had our Winter Meltdown gig hosted by our new music group – The 20 Stories High Sound System who are a group of approx 12 singers, beatboxers, rappers and a guitarist. They have been collaborating with our Co-AD Keith Saha and local musician Spokazi (formerly Kof) also on the bill were an array of AMAZING talent from other local urban artists Pagoda Arts, Rooftop Poets, Enchord, Spokazi and C-Two.

That’s us sleeping until Christmas… see you in the new year for more events, more excitement and some BIG news!!
